The short version

Chic Editor Club participates in affiliate programmes. When you click certain links and buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid by going to the retailer directly. Sometimes you pay less, because some programmes pass on a discount code.

How you can tell

Retailer links on this site route through our own redirect page at /go. If a link goes to chiceditorclub.com/go?…, it is an affiliate link. If it goes straight to a retailer with no redirect, it is not.

What the redirect does not do: it carries no analytics, it sets no cookies of its own, and it shows you the destination domain before sending you there. It exists so that you can see where you are going, not so that we can watch you go.

What a commission does not buy

  • A place in a roundup. We choose what to include before we check whether a programme has an offer for it. Products with no affiliate programme at all appear in our guides regularly.
  • A better ranking. Where two pieces are close, we say they are close and explain which to buy for which reason. We do not quietly promote the higher-paying one.
  • A good review. Our buying guides regularly conclude that a category is not worth buying into, or that you already own the right thing. Those articles earn us nothing and we publish them anyway.
  • Copy approval. No brand sees an article before you do.

Advertising

We also display third-party advertising. Ad slots are sold by placement and are always marked as advertising. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content, and we do not accept advertising from a brand we have criticised in an article without disclosing that fact alongside it.

Sponsored content

We do not publish sponsored articles, paid reviews or advertorials. If that ever changes, the piece will say so at the top, in the largest type on the page.
